چکیده

For any k we construct a simply connected compact set (art gallery) in IR3 whose every point sees a positive fraction (in fact, more than 59) of the gallery, but the whole gallery cannot be guarded by k guards. This disproves a conjecture of Kavraki, Latombe, Motwani, and Raghavan.

Guarding Galleries with No Nooks (extended Abstract)

We consider the problem of guarding galleries that have no small nooks (regions that are visible from only a small fraction of the entire gallery). Intuitively, such galleries (of which convex galleries are a special but uninteresting case) should need fewer guards. We show that in any simply connected gallery in which every corner sees at least a fraction of the other corners there exist a set...

Some Conditions for Characterizing Minimum Face in Non-Radial DEA Models with Undesirable Outputs

The problem of utilizing undesirable (bad) outputs in DEA models often need replacing the assumption of free disposability of outputs by weak disposability of outputs. The Kuosmanen technology is the only correct representation of the fully convex technology exhibiting weak disposability of bad and good outputs. Also, there are some specific features of non-radial data envelopment analysis (DEA...

Breaking bad news is one of the most difficult tasks an emergency physician has to perform and unfortunately it is not well studied.
